VESSEL NAMED “MERCY GOD (NIL-K)” RUN AGROUND

Vessel named Mercy God (NIL-K) awaiting at Bozcaada anchorage area due to the legal questions since 19.05.2014, run aground on 29.12.2014 at 01:30 a.m. at Bozcaada, Beylik bay by dragging anchor due to the severe southwesterly storm despite being warned by the Bozcaada port authority about the approaching storm. Upon receiving the notice, Kurtarma 7 tugboat which belongs to our organization was immediately sent to the place of incident.

No pollution or loss of life reported.

The same day at about 09:00 a.m. all 5 crew members which were onboard the vessel have been evacuated.

Aforesaid vessel (on the date of 28.09.2014) had previously been run aground on Yeniköy site where she went to south of Çanakkale Strait for fuelling by the permission of the port authority. She had been salvaged by our organization and then had been moored to Bozcaada anchorage area.
